Tuna and grilled capsicum salad

Sometimes winter can be filled with such rich, starchy food that it's nice to lighten things up a bit with a healthy salad. This is one of my favorites, really healthy and so easy to whip up. The grilled capsicum adds that extra bit of flavour to the salad.

I decided not to incude a recipe with this one because a salad is such a personal thing. It's a mix really. So just go with what is suited to your taste. But as a guide I used salad mix, grilled yellow, green and red capsicum, fetta cheese, shallots, avocado, cherry tomatoes, kalamata olives, tuna in springwater, and snowpea sprouts. The sauce is just a dash of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a tiny dash of soya sauce. Simple but delish!

My Swiss mum's gruyère cheese quiche

My mum is one of the best cooks I know. I grew up being a vegetarian until around the age of 18, my amazing mother never made it feel like we were missing out on a single thing. I was always amazed at how she could open the fridge doors, pick out a few random ingredients and somehow always whip up the most delicious meals.

I will try to feature as many of mums amazing recipes as I can.

Here is a first...Enjoy!

Our 2011 Euro trip

Last year my partner and I hopped in our little car and took a drive around Europe for 5 weeks, it was the most amazing experience. We finished up our travels with a 2 week holiday to the Greek islands with our friends.

Here are some of my favourite shots from Greece.

Some favourites from South of France

A little celebration for the launch of the blog

A warm hello and WELCOME to you all!

Welcome to my new food, life and photography blog, Life is ButterfulGrab a cuppa, get cozy and settle in.

In a nutshell, this blog baby of mine is going to focus mostly on food photography and styling...but, wait, there's more! I do a lot of interior and lifestyle photography as well so it'll encompass all of that side too. Also with the excitement of finally having a blog that I have wanted to begin for so long I may occasionally get carried away and you may have to put up with random posts that might not be related to photography at all! Who knows, I'll see where the wind takes me!

Most of all I hope to share, entertain, occasionally make you chuckle if I can and (fingers crossed) leave you feeling hungry for more! I am very open to any input, comments and will aspire to always get back to messages so please feel free to get in contact.

Like I mentioned this blog IS just a baby, so I'm still ironing out some things and getting a real feel for how I want the blog to be styled etc. I'm also totally self taught so I still have a lot to learn.

So for those who don't know me here is a super quick run down:

/ I'm a swaussie (half Swiss have Aussie)
/ I live in Sydney, originate from Mullumbimby (10 mins from beachy Byron Bay)
/ I have the most amazing, supportive, inspiring fiancé I could ask for. He is my better half.
/ I love photography, lazy weekend breakfasts, English style, film, travel, puppies, good books, the countryside, crispy morning walks, beach picnics with friends, organic food, yoga, coffee addict, party planning and loads more...oh, and did I mention coffee?
/ My career is in the media industry but photography and blogging are my creative outlets.

So there you have it, a rather long winded hello, I will try to keep future posts to a minimum, it will be photography focused after all.

Hope you're all having a splendid day!
